Scamp Attack

Audio & Design built compressors for Neve and Helios desks.  The Compex and Vocal Stressor were well received in the 70s and featured on many famous recordings.  Audio & Design came up with the idea of a modular SCAMP system long before the likes of the API 500 series.  It’s flaw was the hard wired connectivity which needed soldering by the end user and the slightly flimsy card frame.  However the modules were fantastic.  The Green and later Black faced FET compressors were developed out of the Compex and according to Ian Harley were seen by the company as an improvement in the earlier design.  They are great on many things and the Black Face can be as vicious as any other compressor known to humanity
